Campaign for the Future Progress Update

The Campaign for the Future capital campaign was launched silently in August 2015 to raise funds and awareness for two things:

  1. Renovate Moriah House
  2. Rejuvenate the Resource Center with much-needed updates on both levels

21 months later where do we stand?

Thanks to the generosity of all our donors, including many of you, the total amount pledged as of May 1, 2017 for the 3-year Campaign for the Future is $1,945,959.85 of the $2,250,000 needed to complete Phase One of the capital campaign work.

Progress to date?

Moriah House capital improvements have been completed.  This included: improvements to the lower level to allow for more programming options for clients; updates to kitchen appliances and space; new windows and roof; new exterior decking; and much more.

What is next?

Work on the Resource Center will begin in June.  This work includes the expansion of the second floor and renovation work of the first floor.  It is expected to take 8-10 months of time.

Construction will begin at the rear of the Resource Center.  This will take the sorting rooms, shopping area, donation area and volunteer room offline first.

June 12-18 the Clothing and Household Item Distribution (CHID) program will be closed temporarily to move the program to trailers, located in the parking lot on the corner of West 33rd and Lorain, adjacent to the Ohio City Pizza building.

Effective June 19, the CHID program will be operating in this temporary space for 3-6 months.

Construction will begin on the rear of the Resource Center to prepare for the addition of the second story as well as work on the new Meals Program area.  Once this work is completed, the construction team will move towards the front of the building to complete work on the kitchen, pantry and CHID program areas.

What does this mean?

The organization and construction crews are working together to ensure there are minimal service interruptions during this major construction project.

In-kind donors will deliver donations to the temporary site until further notice.  Donation acceptance will be limited to one bag only due to storage constraints.

We will continue to update you on progress and changes via the WSCC e-newsletters and website.  Please be sure to read this information as it comes to you.

Thank you for making the Campaign for the Future possible.  It is a priority for WSCC to complete this work in order to serve our clients in an environment that allows for safe and productive services to be provided.  Please continue your faithful service at WSCC and know we are grateful for your patience and support during this time.
