I sign a lot of thank you letters which is a good thing because it means the WSCC is receiving the resources we need to serve our clients. It may sound corny but I try to maintain a prayerful attitude as I sign these letters as I am so very grateful for our donors. They believe in the mission of the WSCC and take the time to send a check or make an online donation.
Two thank you letters came across my desk this week that truly overwhelmed me. The first letter had attached to it the note (in lovely cursive handwriting) that came with the donation. It read as follows:
Dear West Side Catholic Center,
I would like to donate $30 to your program. I am doing this because I think what you do for the world is great. It has always made me sad to see other people suffering. I think that you should keep doing what you are doing. I will always support what you do. You have inspired me to want to help your program. Once again, thank you for what you do.
On the second thank you the staff had written a note that said the donor, Gabriella was an 11 year old who had earned the $100 donation by doing chores.
I was so touched by the true giving spirit of both of these young women. I wrote on their thank you letters that they inspired me and the staff in the work that we do. It is always a blessing to see young people with this charitable spirit.
One of our former Shelter residents was featured on WCPN ideastream this week in a series called “Cleveland Tough: Tales of Survival and Perseverance.” If you have a few minutes I urge you to listen to her story in the following link: http://www.ideastream.org/news/cleveland-tough-tales-survival-and-perseverance-episode-3-homelessness
Have a wonderful weekend. I think spring is really here!
As always, thank you for reading,
