Volunteer Descriptions & Requirements

Drop-In Center

Sorting Room volunteers sort and arrange in-kind donations for the Clothing and Household distribution program.  
No. of volunteers needed daily: 5 -8
Hours: 9am-12pm, 12:30pm-3pm

Clothing and Household Program Personal Shoppers assist clients who come for 20 minute appointments in selecting and acquiring clothing and household items.  
No. of volunteers needed daily: 5
Hours: 9am-12pm, 12:30pm-3pm

Door Managers assist in the acceptance of in-kind donations for the Center.    
No. of volunteers needed daily: 1
Hours: 9am-12pm, 12:30pm-3pm

In-Kind Donation Administrative support helps with the documentation and acknowledgment of in-kind donations.   
No. of volunteers needed daily: 1
Hours: 9am-12pm, 12:30pm-3pm flexible

Phone Receptionist works in the administrative offices directing callers to appropriate staff or programs and light clerical work.   
No. of volunteers needed daily: 2
Hours: 9am-12:30pm, 12:30pm-4:00pm

Meal Preparation includes the cooking and serving of meals.   
No. of volunteers needed daily: 3-6
Hours: 9:30am-12:30pm lunch, Monday through Friday

Women and Children’s Shelter

Phone Receptionist works in the administrative offices directing callers to appropriate staff or programs and light clerical work.   
No. of volunteers needed daily Monday-Friday, 2
Hours: 9am-12:30pm, 12:30pm-3:30pm

Meal Preparation includes providing the meal, cooking and serving  on weekends   
No. of volunteers needed: 2-6
Hours:  9:00a.m.-11:00a.m. brunch; 5p.m.-7p.m. dinner

Youth Programming volunteers assist with tutoring, special events, special programs and other activities with the child residents.  
No. of volunteers needed daily: 2-5
Hours: 3:30pm-8:30pm

Zacchaeus Housing Solutions

Passages volunteers are mentors paired up with an individual or a family for year-long commitment to provide support for the family.
No. of volunteers needed on occasional basis, 8-10
Hours: 2 hours a week, very flexible

Job Training specialists, mentors for participants

Sullivan GED Scholarship Program

Adult Education volunteers act as tutors for basic adult education, preparation for GED and basic skills necessary for work or school.
No. of volunteers needed, 6-8, Tuesday and Thursday from 1:30 to 3:30pm. Hours: 2 hours a week
